Rants and wishes
Extract from the Provost Circular i received on tuesday..--
"MOE’s funding policy on hostels is that it will cover the land cost, initial construction costs and subsequent replacement costs of student hostels. The operating, cyclical maintenance and repair costs are not subsidised by MOE and would have to be recovered by the University from students from the room rates charged.
The last hostel fee adjustments were in 2004. Since then, the operating, cyclical maintenance and repair costs of our hostels have gone up substantially. The current hostel rates are not sufficient to fully pay for the various cost items and ensure that our hostels are run in a sustainable manner. Therefore, room rates have to be revised to cover rising operating costs and to make an adequate contribution to the sinking fund that has been set up for cyclical repairs, maintenance and periodic upgrading. This adjustment will be phased in over 3 years."
Single rooms are now priced $60 per week.
Next academic yr price goes up to $75, the year after that $90 and by 2010-$100.
Double rooms are more gradual hikes. $40 now. $50 next yr, $60 the year after and 2010- $70.
(PGP rooms are different rates..but higher nonetheless also)
I think it's ridiculous...for hall fees to go up to so high..well i most prob would grad after next yr...
so not so bad...imagine lionel and dan has to pay $90 per wk to stay in school next time...
but then again..lionel will prob not stay anymore..and dan has scholarship to help cover..
wat abt the average other nus student who gotta stay in hall?!
i feel tat hall fees now are already kinda exorbitant already..
with the increase it's really crazy...and the reasoning is because they haven't raised hall fees since 2004?
WTH? and tat gives a reason to increase the fees to almost another 100%...geez...talk abt being top university...f..
NTU's hall fees are like a fraction of ours to begin with already...
instead of building more halls they raise the fees to decrease the increase in demand for hall stay...i say that's Fuc*ing dumb....
instead of building more halls..they spent the Fuc*ing money building some Alumni House + wat Business School Mochtar building shit..that took away half of an existing carparking space(talk abt having nowhere to park in NUS..)
That's giving us so much noise pollution...(my hall's just opposite to the construction site)
what's their freaking problem!? gEEz...something took their brains away.....F* off you asses..

hmm well...another drama happened just now at home...not tat i was involved in it...nor my dad...
but somehow...things weren't tat happy...oh well...dun bother.. =)
